Vietnamese Black Pepper is one of Vietnam’s major agricultural export spices. Raw materials are mainly sourced from major pepper-growing areas such as Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, and other regions in the Central Highlands.

According to TCVN 7036:2008, black pepper is the dried fruit with the outer skin intact of the Piper nigrum L. plant. Whole black peppercorns generally have a diameter of approximately 3–6 mm and are classified based on physical, chemical, and microbiological characteristics.

Vilifa supplies Vietnamese Black Pepper for export according to requirements for bulk density, quality, packaging, and destination market.

Black Pepper Grades

Depending on the buyer’s specification, black pepper can be classified according to bulk density and other quality parameters.

Common specifications include:

  • Black Pepper 500 g/L
  • Black Pepper 550 g/L
  • Higher bulk density black pepper according to requirements
  • Cleaned and graded black pepper
  • Other specifications according to market requirements

Bulk density is an important parameter used to evaluate and classify black pepper quality. TCVN 7036:2008 specifies different minimum bulk density levels according to quality grades.

Key Product Features

Pepper Sourced from Vietnam

Vilifa sources black pepper from growing regions throughout Vietnam, particularly the Central Highlands, which is one of the country’s key pepper-producing areas.

Raw materials are selected according to the specification of each order and the requirements of the destination market.

Naturally Pungent Flavor

Black pepper has a characteristic aroma and natural pungent flavor. It is widely used as an ingredient in food processing, seasoning, and spice products.

According to TCVN 7036:2008, black pepper should be free from abnormal odors and flavors and should not contain visible mold or insects.

Available According to Buyer Specification

Buyers may request specifications including:

  • Bulk density
  • Moisture content
  • Light berry percentage
  • Broken peppercorn percentage
  • Foreign matter
  • Color
  • Microbiological parameters
  • Pesticide residues
  • Other requirements according to the destination market

Specific parameters are confirmed according to the specification and requirements of each order.

Quality Standards

For export black pepper, the main quality factors commonly controlled include:

Physical Quality

  • Bulk density
  • Light berry percentage
  • Broken peppercorn percentage
  • Foreign matter
  • Size and appearance

Chemical Quality

  • Moisture content
  • Piperine
  • Volatile oil
  • Other physicochemical parameters

Food Safety

  • Microbiological parameters
  • Pesticide residues
  • Contaminants according to destination market requirements

TCVN 7036:2008 specifies physical, chemical, and microbiological requirements for black pepper. For example, processed black pepper is subject to a maximum moisture content of 12.5% under this standard.

For markets with strict food safety requirements such as the EU, controlling maximum residue limits (MRLs) and food safety parameters is particularly important for exporters.
